The sport of Soaring in Canada has a deep history of committed people, exceptional pilots and fascinating gliders. Please enjoy browsing our collection of photos and documents exploring the history of soaring in Canada and by Canadians.

The foundation for archiving of Canadian soaring history was the work of Christine Firth, Historian for the Canadian Soaring Association from 1980 through 1994. Christine lodged a large collection of materials with the National Archives of Canada, where it is now accessible through the Archives Reading Room in Ottawa.

The materials presented here were assembled by current SAC Historian Bruce Friesen. A huge thank you goes to all those who contributed to this collection, particularly Daniel Duclos of the Gatineau Glding Club.
