Description

The Canadian Glider Boosters was an ad hoc group of three Alberta glider community members who invested a substantial block of time to flying gliding exhibitions across the prairie provinces. The tour commenced from Calgary on May 25, 1935. The team consisted of Norman Bruce, James Fretwell and Paul Pelletier. The group towed from town to town the Lawrence-Northrup glider owned by Norman Bruce and/or the Calgary Gliding Club. Promotional material indicated an intention, at least initially, to travel all the way to Harris Hill, Elmira, NY, which was at that time the most active locus of gliding in the United States. In the event, the glider was destroyed by a wind storm during the stop in Winnipeg, and that ended the tour.
