General Notes

Note

The Lohner gliders, #1 and #2, were the product of a Mr. George Lohner and a syndicate of Ottawa businessmen. Lohner #1 was constructed at the Central Exhibition Grounds on Bank Street, Ottawa (now Lansdowne Park), in 1910. It was a delta-winged biplane of 45' length and 20' wing span. The syndicate attempted to fly it, but the glider was wrecked by wind without attaining flight. Lohner #2 did achieve a short hop while being towed behind an automobile, in 1911, and was never tested again or to true flight.
