William G. Schneider was a noted artist born in Cleveland and active in New York. He was a member of many artists’ clubs and was known primarily for his tonalist watercolors amongst New York and Newport, especially his portraiture. He was also known for his works he completed while traveling on a painting trip through the West. He was well known for including realistic texture in his works. He studied watercolor in Paris at the studios of Julian and Carlo Rossi, and lived most of his life in New York City. His brother was Arthur Schneider, also an artist.
