Update 2/2008: Black and white print. Snapshot. Image of a stone gravemarker in a snowy lawn. Carved on the rectangular polished face: "Robert Widdowfield killed August 19, 1878 near Elk Mountain while in pursuit of Train Robbers".
Written on back in blue ink: "Widdowfield is buried at Carbon, Wyoming cemetery and the reason this marker is in the Rawlins Cemetery was because the late Homer France ran across Tip Vincent's grave out there and he assumed that Widdowfield was buried nearby and caused this marker to be placed there by the county commissioners[.]"
Cemetery records[black] show that two men Tom Hogg and Coates[crossed out] Bill Cecil? two freighters who were frozen to death one winter at 16 mile (west of Rawlins) lie in this spot[.]
Blue ink: "John Daley said the men were cowboys but Mrs. Brimmer said the records say two freighters."
