An 8 1/4" x 10" scan of two colored photographs on this single sheet. Photo at top shows a four sided short square, light colored concrete monument which forms a triangle at the top on side left surrounded by a metal fence. Another smaller monument is on side right inside this fence line. On photo right outside the fence is a larger square monument made from earthtoned flat rocks which also rises to a triangle at the top. A bronze plaque is embedded at top center front of this monument. An arid mountain rises in the distant background, and dormant grass is seen in the foreground along with a dirt walking path in the center of the print to the monuments. Photo at the bottom of the page is a closeup view of the plaque and it reads " Dedicated to the Ute Indians Who were Involdved in the Battle of Milk Creek." Verbiage reads "Let us not forget the White River Utes who gave their lives and shode who were wounded in the battle at Milk Creek on September 29, 1879." It continues on to tell the story of Nathan Meeker and his lack of understanding of the Indians. Monument erected by the Colorado Historical Society September 29, 1993.
