Update - 2009: Sepia print. Studio portrait. Mounted on tan matboard. 3/4 length portrait of 9 men seated & standing in front of a painted backdrop. Men are all dressed in black suits; none are wearing hats; all have either mustaches or mustaches & chin whiskers.
Written on back in pencil: "[cutoff] Murphy[,] Joe Rankin[,] Tom Sun[,] Bony[sic] Earnest[,] [cutoff] John Madden[,] Geo Wright[,] Ben Northington[,] John Foote[,] Jim Rankin[.] 1880's"
Mounted on acidic matboard. Cut down from original size - edges uneven, writing on back cut off. Mat back soiled; liquid stains throughout; mat surface torn in lower right. Emulsion missing on upper edge at right; cracks in emulsion to right of missing surface. Crack in emulsion from top edge at left. Various dents in emulsion; surface soiled & scratched.
Update 2015: Notes from Rans Baker indicate that the first man is Michael Murphy.Collection
