Rawlins about 1935 Rest Well Camp Cottages. Update - 2009: Two black & white postcard prints of 100 block of West Cedar. Image of two level office & gas station. Upper level has four rectangular windows. Lower level has large doorway with windows on both sides & larger windows on corner on photo right. Another door is in center of building with a large window to left & another window on left corner. Three gas pumps are in front. There are two poles, one has a flag flying & other has a sign: "CAMP" between poles. A sign: "The California Company Products". On photo right is a row of cabins parallel to office. A man stands beside center gas pump & another man stands in doorway on right. Printed on top right of card: "Rest Well Camp "A Home Away from Home" " In white on bottom left: "21679" Printed on back: "Located in Heart of city of Rawlins, Wyo. Near fine fishing streams and the big game country" "POST CARD" "This space for address only" down middle: "Picto-cards-Kaeser & Blair, Inc. Cincinnati, Ohio" Written in black ink: "Lon K Jones is standing in doorway - Taco Johns is there now. This must be about 1935" Martha Corner's father" "Rosalie Corner's grandad" Condition: Good. Crease bottom middle, scratches, white out on top left corner back. Postcard 2: Written on back in pencil: Dads Motel 1937 102 W Cedar Condition: Good. Rubbed & scratches. Letter from donor for reference was written before Taco Johns moved farther east on Cedar. This is a post card of the Rest Well Camp. My grandfather Lon K Jones is standing in the doorway. I was born in 1937 and can still remember the counter, phone, Mrs Root and, much later when the phone rang and the caller told my grandpa that Roosevelt had declared war.
