Description

A small red velvet photograph album which measures 4 1/2" wide, 6" high, 2 1/4" thick, with gilt edged thick pages. Album is filled with many old photographs and tintypes. The album belonged to Mrs. J. A. Bennett and has photos of her and Mr. James A. Bennett when young as well as her brother James Fowler and his wife. There are many photos of unknown people. (See writeup of these photos in the original accession book on yellow legal paper) The album has a smooth silver metal raised shield affixed to center of what seems to be the back cover. The top cover has four silver brads affixed, one at each corner of album. A silver metal clasp closure (which is broken) is attached at center side top and bottom cover. Lower catch is missing. Album is extremely worn with holes in fabric at various locations. Spine is detached at front side edges on inside front cover. Inside pages have torn pieces on pages, yellow and soiled pages. Has a bound binding. This item had not been accessioned, but is listed in the original records, and has the handwritten note inside cover in blue ink, "Given museum by Mrs. Anna France."
