Description

A medium brown plastic three ring binder, which has a tiny white sticker on upper spine with "23" written in black lettering. Inside cover has white sticker inscribed "Rock Hounds and Trips G. Measures 11 1/2" x 10 1/4." Approximately 1 1/2" thick. Binder used as photo album for photographs, 1938-1952. Images begin with eight photos of rock hounds in 1939 rockhounding in the desert. Hans Larsen is in lower left hand corner of page 1. Jim Gastoff to his right and others are unidentified. Locations are Hell's Half Acre, WY, near Dad, WY in the Red Desert. Others include: Riverton Rock Hound Convention, Teton Hotel, 1940; Train car at Ferris; Haystack formation at Dad, WY; Bridge over Muddy Creek; Wild Rose Spring area in the desert "after fires"; Fort LaClede; Speciman Hill, 1953; Lincoln Highway; Stratton (s); Continental Divide; Camping near Stratton's Ranch; Mr. and Mrs. Adams, Dad, WY; Dug Springs, WY; Middle Barrel Canyon; hand drawn map of Overland Trail stage stations; Old man and The Boy rock formations; Mr. and Mrs. Chris; Mrs. Shorty Bowls; Martha Larsen; O. M. Johnson; Johnny Kirk, Crooks Gap, WY; Tin Cup Spring, (north of the Sweetwater); Jade Hunt; Johnny House; Ben Davis;Fred Kindt; Sucker Creek, Wy; Mrs. Fred Kindt and Hans Larsen; Hap Vandrosik; Jade rock before and after being cut. Book concludes with two pages of geological time charts which fold out concerning the Rawlins Uplift , by W. E. Shobe, October 1958. Measures 18 3/4" x 58 3/4."
