Sepia scanned copy print of group of soldiers in uniform, standing in rows. Five men are in front, man in middle is holding a flag with 48 stars. Two have rifles standing on the ground by their right side. Most of the young men in rows behind are also holding guns in right hand, butt down. Behind them is a large 2-story house with covered porch & decorative wrought iron balcony rail. On photo right is clapboard house with small front porch. Uniforms are loose at hips & thighs, tucked into gaters & high domed brimmed hats with two indents in crown & braid around crown. Men are standing on a dirt road & appear to be a uniformed Militia group standing in formation.
Condition: Good. Wrinkled, bent. 11 x 17"
Update - January 2010: Black & white print (found after scanned copy entered) attached to tan matboard which has been cut off with irregular border edges.
Written on back in pencil: Corner of 3rd and Spruce.
Condition: Good. There are dark smudges on top edge with soiling. Print is lifting from matboard at lower and side edges. Water stains on back side at left edge.
Size 10 x 14 3/4" Update 2019: This photo is located is printed in "Reflections" book with the cutline, "Corner of 3rd and Spruce." The large house behind them may be the John or Frank Mahoney house.Collection
