Odd Fellows Candy Kitchen fire. Midnight, Dec., 1935. Brown and Lahrman when located at 4th and Cedar. A terrible explosion and followed by a fire which destroyed the Palace Candy Company. The Brown and Lahrman building was so badly damaged that it had to be torn down.
Update 5/2010: A black and white glossy print. Image shows a downtown scene of several wooden two story structures charred and smoldering from fire. Firemen are standing in the street spraying water on building at far right. This building has a long wooden ladder leaning against roof edge and a vintage open back truck parked in front of it on street. Sign on left Etc. Cafe; Blatz Beer at center and Coca Cola sign on side of building far right. Xmas? lights are strung across upper area of intersection.
Written in pencil on back: "Brown & Lahrman when located at 4th & Cedar. A terrible explosion at midnight Dec. 1935 was followed by a fire which destroyed the Palace Candy Company. The Browns & Lahrmans building was so badly damaged that it had to be torn down. "
Stamped on back in ink: "Meyers Studio. R, Wyo. "
Good condition with minor wear and soiling on edges. Surface is wrinkled and has various crinkles in emulsion. Irregular emulsion at top edge. Other minor scratches throughout. Yellowed tape remnant on backside at top edge.
