Description

Women looking at quilts, 1929. Update - May 2010: Black & white glossy contact print. Image shows a Carbon Co. Fair display booth featuring diverse handmade quilts which are hung on a suspension device the width of the boot. Other lower display racks are seen. Laden with aprons, scarfs & other needlework. Seven women are seen at various locations in exhibit area. Display area's floor is dirt. Written on back in black ink & pencil: 6th from left: Tura Fleischly Written on back in black ink & pencil: 6th from left: Olive Ellis, Difficulty Wyo. great grandmother of Linda Platts Written on back in green ink: #220 Good condition. Surface has several wrinkled areas with fine cracks in emulsion. Few dimpled areas. Edges are worn with abraded emulsion. Black developing line at side left. Top edge of back of print has few green ink stains. Minor smudges on back. Update 2012: Quilts have been identified L-R: May Basket, unknown, Triple Tulip; Dresden Plate, Ocean Waves, Double Wedding Ring, Crocheted Afgan, North Carolina Lily, Dutchman's Puzzle, Unidentified Flower Pattern.
