8X10 glossy. Ft. Steele soldiers in front of officer quarters in the 1870's . Tom Ryan with pet Elk.
Update 5/2010: A black and white print of uniformed cavalry soldiers sitting and reclining by railroad tracks. Five large two storied houses/buildings are seen in background with large mesa at right. In the center of the image is a large antlered elk with a man standing next to it.
Written on back in blue ink: "Soldiers in front of officers quarters at Fort Fred Steele in the 1870's. With them is their pet elk."
Written in blue green ink: "Tom Ryan with pet elk."
Fair condition: Print is wrinkled, soiled and worn. There are several developing anomalies. Right corner is missing. Back surface is soiled and smudged. There are tape remnants at top edge.
Note: This image is used to convey the idea of "Fort Boredom" which was used in connection with this fort before its decommission.Collection
