Description

Black & white print attached to cream colored matboard. Image shows an early day store. Building has stone foundation, four paned windows on left & right sides of open doorway. Top half of building is white frame structure with dark lettering in three rows: Wholesale Manufacture of FINE STOCK SADDLES and Harness of every Description Sign on top of building: White lettering on dark background. John A. Donnel There are two men standing on each side of doorway. Man on left has on work apron. A man & young girl are seated on top front step. A young boy is seated on lower top side step. At top of building side left is a mural connected from building to a pole at walkway of a cowboy on horseback in the pose of lassoing a steer. Signage at top of mural reads John A Donnel Wholesale manufacturer of the J. A. Donnel Stock Saddle. A small white picket fence is at side left. Fair condition. Print is faded and matboard is disintegrating around edges with several pieces missing. Corners all worn off. There are multiple stains & tears in matboard. Dark smudges on front & back surfaces. One 4 3/4 x 6 13/16" Black & white cop print. Written on paper taped to back: "J. A. Donnel Building built by Reuben Knox in 1879. Donnel established business in Oct. 1885. Sold to Knox & Tanner in March 1900. Donnel opened General Merchandise Store in Sept. 1902. Photograph between 1895-1900" Back soiled. Emulsion bent at top center. One 8 x 10" black & white copy print. Written on back in pencil: "John A. Donnel Wholesale Mfg" "8.00"
