A taupe colored Stetson brand felt hat. A narrow beaded hatband encircles the crown of the hat. The beadwork design is of tiny repetitive U. S. State flags in red, white and blue beads. the hatband is tied at the hat back with white thread ends from the ends of the beadwork. A smaller red, white and blue bead flag motif encircles the entire outer edge of the brim. Donor states that the hat was a "reservation" hat, purchased from a store in Cody, WY. The hat was made in Billings, MT. ca. 1940. Hat measures 15 1/4" brim edge to brim edge (front to back) and 14 1/4" brim edge side to side. Inside crown measures 8" x 6 1/2," 5" brim width. Appraiser, W. G. Woodward, gave a value of $550. to this hat. Hat measures 15 1/4" brim edge to brim edge (front to back) and 14 1/4" brim edge side to side. Inside crown measures 8" x 6 1/2," 5" brim width. Fair condition. Hat has light stains and dark smudges on inside brim. The internal sweatband stitching is worn and loose.Collection
