A rough built wooden trunk (noted as trunk 2) with brown veneer and shellacked? finish, which holds the hand tools of Frank Blake, who came to Rawlins in 1868 with the railroad, he was a carpenter, and rancher. The trunk measures 24" deep; 21 1/2" in height; and 39" side left to side right. The trunk holds various saws, hatchet, locks auger, suger handle, unknown handles, beveled wooden guide for sharpening handsaw blade, many files of all types. Tools are in good condition. Trunk is in good sturdy condition, but is heavily worn, and scratched. A pictorial inventory is in the accession book.

Two trowels-1) 10 ¾ inch by 4 ½ inch. The other 10 3/8 inch by 4 1/8 inch.
3) F-Bevels-1) Wood handled blade, 12 inch long, 1 1/8 inch wide. End locks screw missing. Handle 8 3/8 inch long. Brass plates on side. No maker's name. Second, all metal, blade 9 inch long, 1 inch wide, handle 4 5/8 inch long, makers name: Eagle, cast on both sides. Third, all metal, blade 8 inches long, 7/8 inch wide. Handle 5 3/16 inches long. The maker name is Stanley, cast on one side only.
Two specialty hammers. One built by diamond tool. Head 3 ¾ inch long, face 7/16 inch by ½ inch back is ½ inch chisel-handle 9 7/8 inch long. Second, resembles a geologist's hammer. Head riveted to handle through 2 cast straps. Hammerhead cylindrical +_1/2 inch by 3 3/8 inch long. Then cast into flat stock from where the strap extends down the handle. Opposite to the heads slightly curved chisel with ½ inch face, 3 ¼ inch long. Like the head cast into flat stock center. Wedged shaped handle is 14 inches long. Oval stock 1 1/16 by 7/16 inches.
Four spirit level "bubble" glasses. 3 ¼ inch long-.25/ 64 inch diameter.
One farrier's hoof knife, all metal 8 ¼ inch long overall, blade ¾ inch at curl tip, which extends 3 /78 inch from handle. Handle 2 pieces cast iron held together with 2 machine screws, top ½ inch of handle inscribed Keller Bros. CO. Newark, N.J. USA.
One Template 2 5/8 inch by 1 5/16 inch by 1/32 inch-cut out reads F. Blake, surrounded by Victorian Fern Pattern, made of three different pieces of metal.
One #6 union pacific brass door latch. 2 13/16 inch long, body ½ inch square is 1 ½ inch long. Tang extends 1 5/8 inch from back 1 inch from bottom. Brass finger pull 9/16 inch wide, ¾ inch long, 7/8 inch tip of pull to rear of the tang, bolt is 2 inch long, ¼ inch round brass for 7/8 reduced to 3/16 inch for 1 1/8 inch to pilot brass spring which are 1 inch long by ¼ inch. (Tapered).
One brass cast spring latch 1 5/8 inch by 1 5/8 inch; 3/8 inch max to ¼ inch min. thick. No markings! Belt 5/16 inch round with a ¼ inch flat on back side, bolt was oval shaped finger piece are united together and are held inside the cast frame. The domed finger piece is ¾ by 9/16 inch overall width. 3/16 inch shaft (undetermined)

One 28 inch jointer plane 3 ¾ inch square block on blade is 2 ½ inch wide.
One 22 inch jointer plane 3 ½ inch square block on blade is 2 ½ inch wide.
One 16 inch jack plane 2 ½ inch by 2 ¾ inch square block on blade is 2 ¼ inch wide.
One back saw with homemade depth gauge on right side. 12 13/16 inch blade a 7 point rip saw.
One Henry disston and sons 4 screw London '12' spring 6 inch point rip; handsaw 26 ½ inch blade. Handle has carved fern pattern.
One Bringhurst and CO. 4 screw cast steel 7 inch warranted handsaw, 26 inch blade; handle plain, 10 point.
One Henry Disston and Sons compass saw-7 point tip on blade, taken off blade now 10 ¼ inch long, was 12 inches.
One back saw with brass depth guide-10 inch blade-16 points-2 screw made by Jackson, warranted, cast steel.

One two handed wooden die for cutting threads on ¾ inch dowels, made in 2 pieces which hold the blade in ; it is 10 ¾ inch long and is made from 2 inch square stock.
One spare wooden handle for a large plane, 1 ¼ inch wide, 3 1/3 inch length, 5 ¾ inch tall. Fits a special tool.
One two-piece beveled wooden guide for hand sharpening handsaw blade, 14 7/8 inch long, 1 3/l6 inch closed with screws, ¾ inch high to the top of the bevel.
One well worn wooden marking gauge, brass face plate on slide block no calibrations, stick 10 inch long, 11/16 inch square stock, slide 2 ½ by 2 inch by 1 inch.
One "Saginaw"commercially made. Keg valve-all wood, 1 ¼ inch square stock, 4 inches long, back 2 inches tapered down to ¾ inch circle with ¼ inch hole. Valve 1 inch round stock , 3 7/8 inch long, 2 3/8 inch turned down to 5/8 inch with 5/16 inch hole tapered handle protrudes 1 ½ inch from 1 inch portion of valve.

Four inches are 3/16 inches at tang and 1/30 second at tip. All are kept separate in an opened box-unused.
8) One six inch, one five inch, three four and half inch and three four inch tapered files all are different makers. All used and all of different ages in a plastic sack.

19) assorted small triangular files 2 three inches long with a quarter inch base five short three inches with different base sizes, seven short three inch quarter inch face at base, five long three inch five and three quarter inch base at tang all are used and stored in a small plastic sack.
1) Three piece small turning buck saw frame. The center piece is twelve and seven eighths by one and three eighths inch by three inch. Whole thing one half inch wide.
Tongs are on either end. Two side pieces are seven and three quarters by one and seven eights inch. Brass supports to protect the groves. Tops have brown rods with wooden handles to hold one of the blades in the saw blades. No blade or tentioners are found.
1) Beat up starter punch three sixteenths inch five and sixteenth inches long made from half inch octostoctgon
1) Carpenters bench wood handle round two and half inch maximum diameter. Eleven and half inches overall length. Bristle is plus or minus four inches long.
1) Small child spur. With three eights leather nickel plated. Has three quarter inch rusty rowel.
4) Metal finger screws first are brass nine sixteenths inch. Shank is three sixteenth inch diameter second is quarter inch diameter. Shank is broken. Third has a five sixteenth diameter shank at nine inches long fourth quarter inch diameter shank one inch long over all is one and a quarter inches.
2) Fault keys for double notched tumblers. Door keys one and fifteen sixteenth inches long. Blade is one sixteenth inch max.
2) Rectangular shafted keys. First is two inches long overall. Shaft is three sixteenths by one eights inch and overall is one inch long.
1) Bronze round key shafted. With one eights inch diameter pilot one half inch long-main shaft thirteen sixteen inches long with long blade one sixteenth inch wide by a quarter inch long at top tapers to five sixteenths shaft.
3) Flat keys-smallest for draw or file lock. Double cut for paddle lock and longest is five and three quarter inch long is special door key.
1) Valve (T key) for a seven sixteenth square valve. Five and three quarters inches overall length. T handle is three inches round. Stock is three inches long. Welded into a tapered shaft four and three inches long, socket is seven-eights inches long.
F. Blake template for inking name to cards ect. All capital letters one eights inch case letter are three thirty second inch high. Template itself is two and five inches long by one and three inches high. One three thirty second inches thick.
1) Brass number 6 U.P.RR. Three screw spring latch three eights overall length. With protruding overall latch. Spring housing is half inch squared with a curved fingered piece. Finger piece is three quarter inch max. Nine sixteenth max and is threaded to receive a bolt shaft.
1) Cast brass spring catch one and five eights by one and seventeenth inch thickness around bolt casing. It has an oval shaped fingered piece three quarter by nine sixteenth by quarter inch max. Bolt is five sixteenths inch diameter with a quarter inch flat on the back side-bolt protrudes five eights inch from the housing. Unit is peened together
1) Cutting tool ten inches long overall cutting block peened in place. One in three quarters inches long cuts is seven sixteen inches at front one in one sixteen inches cut in back square in equipped with a plunger to push out the plug. (Near marker)
1) Six screw decorative cast iron door hinge plates are one and one eights wide by three and sixteenth inch long by eight inch thick. Pin with its orimental feral is six inch long plate hinge itself is seven sixteenth inch diameter. List in the book as an open flat hinge three and one half by three and one half hinge which is unused.
1) Pair of ear protectors. Wire frames covered with black velt red course liner, (rotting) thin cord thirteen and half inches long keep pieces together.
1) Stanley number 71 wood worker router plane. Silver finish with two light colored wooden handles.
1) Stanley adjustable beating, rabbet, and slitting plane. Cast iron frame. Rods and guides polished steel finger and ring lock brass handle dark wood.
3) Brass ferrules.
A) one inch I.D. inside diameter, nine sixteenths inch deep, one thirty second inch thick,
b) & c) 11/16 inch I.D. inch 7/8 inch deep, 1/16 inch thick, four screw driver or chisel handles.
3-n-hand stubby screw drivers forged together ½ inch blade 5/30 second inch blade 3/16 inch blade. All are 2/4 inch center of a three prong handle.
1) Cast metal truck or door handles no bracket. Handle is C shaped three and ½ inch max. Side to side. ¼ inches puffed 1 7/8 inch long.
1) Harness fitting guide or rest for a buggy rains. Collar attachment.
1) Broken F Blake key ring. Plus or minus inch circle. 1/30 second inch thick stamped on flatten parson flat on cats.
1) Brass three screw decorative turn latch mountaining is 2/4 inch long max, 1 inch high, turn latch its self is 2/8 inch max. Plus 1/16 inch thill. 9/16 inch high max. Curve single piece 1/8 inch high 1/3 inch long, raises 3 inches turn latch.
6) Small fore screw hinges. 4 are 1 by 1/13 inch. 2 are ½ by 15/16 inch models.
1) Cast iron spoke shave with adjustable guides, 9 ½ inches long take 1 ½ inches blade.
1) Six and ¾ inch long Evans zip grip monkey wrench flat jaws open up to 7/8 of an inch 9/16 inch wide 6 inches deep.
2) Machine cast brass 6 screw door hinges. 3 7/8 inch long by 1 ½ inches wide by 1/8 in thick-the ends are tapered by 3/8 inches thick with a rounded tip. Made by posited company Cin, Oh. Complete with 12 brass screws in the sack
1) Goodell-prett company double guide-guides are nickel plated castings with two lock screw on pod smaller lock screws hold the guide to a 3 ¼ inch long ¼ inch diameter nickel plated rod. Both of guides are boat shaped and two ¾ inch long by 13/16 inch wide max. Slot between top and bottom is 3/8 inches wide. Large lock set screws which 1 ¾ inch long with round ends. Use of this tool is unknown.
1) Wooden handle tool with hinge thumb leather 2 inches long rounded. ¾ inch hook on the business end. Mounted between 2 braces with curved end points curve points meet at thumb and finger lever which is made 1/16 inch iron flat stock. Hinge pin is 1/8 inch stock handle is black enameled and has a ½ inch by 3 inch ferrule handle is 3 ¾ inch long. 1 inch diameter base protrudes 1 inch from handle. Use is unknown.
2) Matching stamped brass cabinet fore screw cabinet hinges. 1 ½ in all 7/8 in wide 3/64 inches thick.
4) Matching stamped brass cabinet hinges. 1 inch tall by ¾ wide by 3/64 inch thick.
1) Brass hook 1 7/8 inch long, hook itself 1 ½ inch diameter. Material is 3/16 inch diameter built in wood screw 1 1/8 inches long.
1) Copper knob 15/16 in of diameter 3/16 in thick, with stepped shaft ¾ inch long. Shaft itself 5/16 in diameter. Parallel flats 1/8 in long, end treating 1/8 inch stud engraves a notch, use unknown.
1) Decorative final 1/8 in diameter patterned brass ring around the outside, 3/16 inches wide quarter inch deep laps over furrel within the circle 7/8 in glass flat top dome, which curves over a green stone with the Star of David outlined with white and silver in white background. Stone is 1 inch diameter; star is ½ from point to point.
1 7/8 brass/bronze valve lever on a ¼ in diameter screw, ½ in back with brass/bronze hex nut on the end.
1) Brass screw on cast hinge joint threaded for a 3/8 in rod 2 half's of female joint 1 1/8 in diameter 3/16 in thick separated by 1/8 in cut. Each is drilled for a 7/16 in pin/rod or axle.

7) Small iron pieces. 1 bolt latch, 1 lock holds cover,-1/2 in by 1/8 in fore screw hinge, 2 brackets cast iron, 1 brass coated cast guide,
1) slotted nut driver made by Pilkington, cast steel, square shank for brace, 5 ½ in overall length blade is 2 1/16 in long 7/16 in wide, tip is 1/30 second thick, notched for a ½ in screw.
1) Screw on spout for small oil canned coned shaped spout is 3 11/16 in long, tip is 1/8 in diameter, base 1/8 inch of a diameter. Screw portion 1 9/16 in long, threaded portion is ¼ inch long by 3/8 inch in diameter, rest 1 5/16 inches long
1) Cast iron angle, rod and pipe support, not a true right angle. Inside diameter of ground stock ¾ inch-uses unknown.
1) Cup end of a muzzle loading rifle ram rod-cup ½ inch diameter (.50 cal.) Rod ¼ inch O.D. - Cut off 3 3/8 inch from the face of the cup-Blake's use of it-unknown
1) Right angle support with adjustable strap metal holders made of 1/8 inch stock, 1 ½ inch wide-Longest leg=6 7/8 inches in length, - short leg is 2 ¾ inches long with a 3/8 inch hook on the end.
1) Cast iron decorative final-has a flat tapered cone + 1/8 inch thick 2 3/8 inch O.D. At its base-top has 5/8 inch diameter. Flat decorated with a six pointed star with a 3/32 inch hole in its center. The cone stands ¾ inch from base to top of the flat. Slopes of the cone are cast with six oral shaped leers, additional droplet leaves are cast on top of six big ones, and all are mounted on a field of cast scales.
2) Spring loaded cast metal brackets-made to hold 3/8 inches round stock with 1.4 inch O.D. pilot. Mounted with a 2 ½ inch spring (7/16 inch O.D.) all on a 3/16 inch machine screw 3 3/8 inches long-sealed with a 3/8 inch square nut.
1) Brass-Lamp part 2 ¾ inches overall length-Bottom portion is threaded inside. Max diameter of its decretive cone 1 ¼ inch, average O.D. of tube 7/16 inch. Blake's use of it-unknown.
18) Strips of brass all identically shaped like thickness gauges. They are stamped with different numbers-but what they indicate may not be thickness, overall length 4 inches. Stamped portion with number etc-one inch long, 3/8 inch wide, thickness- (micrometer needed) Remainder slightly tapered form plus 1/8 inch to minus 1/8 inch over 3 inches - may be "feeler gages"
1) Large cast metal "L" shaped handle-drilled for a 5/8 inch round keyed shaft. The drilled piece is 6 inches long; the "Hand" piece protrudes from it 3 inches. Typical tool for Victorian era Lathes or milling machines etc.
1) Small cast metal handle, has a ball final on one end and a cone on the other. Cone and tiered for 5/16 inch square shank, over all length 2 ½ inches-max inside diameter of round shank hole ¾ inch. Typical Victorian radiator, plumbing or steam or gas valve handle.
1) Tapered metal block-a guide for an unknown piece of equipment (carpenters)-it ½ inch thick, 4 3/8 inches long, with 2 holes drilled and tapped for 3/8 inch bolts.Collection
