Battle Mountain Mines. People sitting or leaning on a telegraph pole with insulators on it. Lois Heaton Sutton, a school teacher, and Mary Francis Heaton, 1906.
Update 2008: Black and white glossy reprint of a lady and a young girl sitting on the cross bars of a telegraph pole? A third lady is standing on the snow with her arm around the waist of the lady sitting on the crossbars. The girl and lady standing are holding onto wires. The snow is so deep that it is covering 3/4 of the height of the telegraph pole. The young girl has her dark hair pulled back into a long braid that hands over her right shoulder. She is wearing dark dress with belt and braided trim. Long socks cover her exposed legs completely and a pair of dark high top shoes. The lady on the crossbar is wearing a white blouse with 3/4 puff sleeves, large lacy collar and a long dark skirt. Her dark hair is in an updo covered with a white cloth puffed hat. The lady standing is wearing a 3/4 length medium colored dress with white belt, puffed 3/4 length sleeves and black high top shoes and dark socks. She has a white bowtie at neck and white handkerchief in her left pocket. She is wearing a dark medium brimmed and crowned hat. Background scene is of snowy treed hills.
On back of photo is notation: Left to right: Lois Heaton Sutton, Schoolteacher; Mary Frances Heaton. Photo has a developing anomaly on entire right side 1/2 " wide of a white opaque line running top and bottom of print as well as dark flecks scattered over print. there is a shadow on left top edge of photo from negative process.
Slight soiling back side includes small red spot from other side, cracks in emulsion various areas, slight bend in photo on left side.
