Monument at Ft. Steele in memory of the people who had died in the Meeker Massacre at Meeker, Colorado.
Update 5/2010: Black and white glossy print of concrete marker. Marker has sides that slope in toward top and top edges slope upward to a point. Engraved on side of marker: "In Memory of Officers and Civilians of the United States Army. Here killed and wounded in battle with the Utes. 29th September to 5th October 1879. Troops Engaged Co's. F. and D. 5th Cavalry, E of 3 D Cavalry, D of 9th Cavalry. Killed Major T.T. Thornburgh, U.S. A. 1st Sergent John Dolan. Wagoner Amos D. Miller. Privates John Burnes-Michael Firestone, Samuel McKee-Michael Lynch, Thomas Mooney-Charles Wright and Dominick Cuff. Wagon Master William McKinstry. Teamster W.E. McGuire".
