Train wreck #5003.
Update 4/2010: Black and white print. Snapshot. Image of the aftermath of a train wreck where two trains crashed head-on. View from the cab end of one of the engines. Debris all over the ground in the foreground.
Written on the back in black ink: "9/12/23".
Wreck occurred in the Rawlins, Wy. Railyard.
Upper right corner bent. Emulsion cracked. Slight damage to other corners. Emulsion cracked on lower edge right. Paper slightly yellowed.
NOTE: Runaway train x5003 was stopped by placing the switch engine 4464 on the track in front of it and allowing the resulting crash to stop the train. (Rans Baker-Historian).Collection
