Train wreck in front of Depot, Brakeman was killed.
Update 4/2010: Black and white print. Snapshot. Image of the aftermath of a train wreck where two trains crashed head-on. Engine x5003 and engine 4454 were involved. Man standing in foreground after/before examination the wreck and debris.
Written on back in pencil: "This train ran away from Ferris and one brakeman was killed in front of Rawlins Depot. Cause air was hot cut in behind engine crew in hurry A. Gordon." "G". In black ink: "9/12/23".
Lower right corner bent-emulsion cracked; slight damage to other corners. Writing on back impacting emulsion. Soiled.
NOTE: Runaway train x5003 was stopped by placing the switch engine 4464 on the track in front of it and allowing the resulting crash to stop the train. (Rans Baker-Historian).Collection
