Picture has "Coal Mtn, Hanna Wyo" written in pencil in the bottom left corner.
Photo shows the opening of a mine, in black and white. Two rail lies go into the opening. On the left rail is a cart full of, presumably, coal. A digging machine (?) that looks something like a crane has it's right tread in the right set of rails, with the arm of the machine bringing the bucket all the way to the left side of the photograph. On the arm it says "Type II [illegible - possibly model number?] THEW Lorain Ohio". A sign on the right side of the opening also says THEW about 1/3 as tall as the men in the picture.
One man stands to the right of the digger's base in a dark uniform holding a pick axe in his left hang. Sitting on the base of the diggger is a man with his hands crossed in his lap, and the same 3 button uniform jacket but lighter colored pants than the first man. Another man stands on the mase of the digger wearing dark clothes and a darker vest.
2 men, possibly in the same uniform (hard to tell as they are in the shadow) stand to the left of the base of the digger, under the arm. Behind them, bracing frames a square opening deeper into the mine.Collection
