Used as a mystery photo in 2012. We received more than 14 responses to the mystery photo this week, many from people who either worked or stayed at the ranch. The ranch is the Fillmore Ranch located about 25 miles Southwest of Rawlins along the 20 mile road and the Fillmore Creek. Originally the land was part of a land grant to the UPRR and was purchased by Robert Taylor in the 1880's. In 1899 Jens (Jim) Hansen and partner James Ferguson purchased the ranch. Along with raising sheep, cattle, and horses, the ranch was on the stage stop of the Rawlins to Baggs line. Jens Hansen started building the Fillmore ranch in 1912 which included the Fillmore Dam. In 1927 John Hansen came to Rawlins and began working for his Uncle Jens until his uncle's death in 1943. John then inherited half interest in Jens Sheep outfit and lands. The ranch remains in the family with Niels Hansen and Anna Helm (children of John), and their children. It is said this barn is still on the ranch today.Collection
