Description

The Bell home at the corner of 8th and Spruce, Rawlins. This house was built in 1892 and was adjacent to the Bell Stables. This house was torn down in the late 1950's and a service station was built in its place. It is now Rawlins Glass. Photo taken 1896-1897. Update - 2009: Black & white print on matboard of house & a man, woman & two young children standing behind a fence in the yard. The children are on fence cross braces. Taken on 800 Block of Spruce St. House is wood with mortar & a back lean-to porch. Outbuildings can be seen in background. Written on back in blue ink: "The Bell home at the corner of 8th & West Spruce Streets in Rawlins. This house was build in 1892 & was adjacent to the Bell Stables. This house was torn down in the late 1950's & a service station now stands in its former location. In pencil: "now Rawlins Glass". In blue ink: "copied by state" In pencil on bottom back: "Page 53, pix 5 2 1/4 x 3 1/2 - 46%" Top in pencil: "Ralph Bell taken 1896 or 1897" Condition: Good. Fingerprints, scratched, edges worn. Update March 2011: One black & white copy print. Typed on white adhesive tag on back: "The Bell home at the corner of 8th & West Spruce Streets in Rawlins. Stamped on back in black: "Copy provided by the Wyoming State Archives & Historical Department" "199" Good condition. Curled, liquid spots, scratched. Size 5 x 7"
