Sinclair service station under snow, Blizzard, 1949.
Update 2008: Black and white print, 8 x 10 of a Sinclair, Wy service station partially covered by a massive snowdrift and as a result of plowing, from the blizzard of 1949. Deep snow on left side of photo reaches to top of overhanging streetlight. The lubrication bay is partially exposed at right top half of door. The tiled roof and small chambers on either side of roof over lubrication sign are free of snow. Two garage doors and their individual overhanging tile roofs are clear of snow except for the lower 1/4 of door. Three gas pumps and light pole are partially covered with snow on the lower portion of their bases. Another pump in the background with circular sign HC on top is buried in snow up to the flat area of pump that sign is attached to. A house and dormant trees are in the right side of photo. A plowed roadway shows in foreground.
Print has dark grayish cast to it, as well as tiny white and black dots and marks throughout surface from original negative. Print is yellowing. Photo has extensive wrinkling on all edges with top right corners slightly bent. there is slight soiling on all photo edges.
A tiny white sticker on back has Sinclair written in pencil. At top right edge is written Winter of 1949 in blue ink.Collection
