Description

13 7/8" x 8 15/16" enlarged black and white photograph. Picture shows 3 rows of children with their hands clasped in front of them in a prayer position, possibly in a catechism ceremony. The girls are all in white, knee-length dresses, and nearly all have veils. The boys are in dark shoes and pants, a belt, long sleeved white shirt, and either a tie or bowtie. In the rear row Is a priest in light colored gown with a darker stripe down the center. He has short hair and glasses. There are 33 children total, 9 in the back row, 12 in the middle row, and 12 in the front row. They are on steps/risers, so that the back two rows can be seen. The front row, from l-r: 1) a girl in a flower grown, one of two exceptions to the prayer hands, she holds a small bouquet of flowers; a boy in a bow tie, sleeves cuffed once or twice, and light colored belt; a girl weith a small veil; a boy with a bow tie and dark belt; a girl in a large veil; a boy in a patterned bow tie and a belt with horizontal stripes and dark cuff links; a girl with a large veil; a boy with a dark tie and dark cuff links with a belt tail drooping; a girl in a large veil; a boy with a dark tie; a girl with a veil and a cross necklace; a girl with a flower crown and a small bouquet. The original photo that was enlarged has "Photo by Meyers Rawlins, Wyo." in the bottom right corner, and was torn through "Rawlins" and "Photo". There was wear on the original photo, especially on the right edge and bottom left corner.
