Description

4 7/8" x 3 1/2" color photograph of the Voyager - the first plane to make it around the earth without refueling. Plane was on a truck to be brought to the Smithsonian, and drove through Rawlins. Blue trailer with stickers saying "Voyager" and "PST". Plane was chained (2 chains visible on left of photo) onto the truck so it would be perpendicular to the road, with one wing tip over the truck cab. The plain itself, what is visible, is white with three blue stripes, wider at the left and narrowing toward the right. There are two windows in the side and a clear bubble in the top. Written in front of the windows are a variety of logos: "King; Hercules; Teledyne Continental" above the left window is the word "Experimenta" and to the right are the signatures of the pilots, designer, and crew chief, something blurry about world records, and the name Voyager arching over the a connective portion. A gas station and a camper can be seen in the background. On the back is written "Rawlins WY July 1987 Voyger - Cross Country to Smithsonian" Picture was in an envelope labeled "Special Things in Rawlins".
