Home built by Homer Merrell on Southwestward of the tracks by the hill west of Rawlins. Built around 1890 faced mountains to the East. Property later owned by Startzell. Nothing is left except a few stones of the foundation.
Update - 2009: Black & white print on cream colored mat. Image of rock house with four gables on roof, pillars at entrances at either end of house, dirt driveway, steps up to right entrance. The yard is landscaped & fenced. A hill stands behind house & a rock cliff on photo right.
Written on back in blue ink: "Home built by Homer Merrill on the south side of the U P Railroad tracks by the hill west of town. Built around 1890 - faced mountains to the east. Property later owned by A. M. Startzell. Nothing left at present time except a few stones left of the foundation"
In pencil: "Page 50, pix 1 4 1/4 x 7 1/4"

In corner partially cut away: "Slater, Colorado March 5, 1901"
Condition: Good. Soiled, liquid stained, tack holes, accretion, scratched, top left corner broken off, edges & corners worn.

Typed on adhesive tag: "House built by Homer Merrill on the south side of the U. P. Railroad tracks by the hill west of town. Later owned by A. M. Startzell then Charlie Anderson working left by the foundation now. House was likely built in the 1890's"
