Description

Interior of a Drug Store at Ft. Steele. Mr. Sager was a druggist before he came to Ft. Steele for his health. Update - January 2010: Black & white print attached to an ivory colored matboard which has a tiny embossed outer border of leaves surrounding the mat. Image shows the interior of an early day drug store with glass display cases on side left & right of main narrow aisle. Ornate wooden & glass display cases are on each side wall & most shelves contain apothecary bottles. Merchandise is seen on counter tops. At the far rear of the room is dark, decorative high railing, moldings & doorway with mirrors ? on either side of door. Two men dressed in dark suits are behind counter on right. Written on back in blue & black ink: "What do you think of this for style? Mr. A. D. Sager, a druggist before he came to Fort Fred Steele for his health." A small white sticker is affixed to lower corner. Written on it in pencil: Ft. Steele. Good condition. Image is faded, especially at lower edges. Matboard is highly soiled with dark smudges. Entire print has mottled appearance to emulsion surface. Back of mat is soiled with smudges & scuffs. Corners are worn.
