Description

A series of 25 black and white copy prints of various scenes, people, and places. Many are in Past Perfect and I will show relationship to that photo rather than reiterate information. Check original donation copy for more information. Copies will be numbered by folder number and designated with numbers 1-25. 1. A black and white unused postcard of men on skis wearing primarily dark clothing, jackets, and hats. Printed on postcard in white from negative process: "Rescue Party about to bring in snow slide victims, Dillon, Wyoming" T-226 in right lower corner. Postcard is the same as 1956.254.0033. 2. A black and white unused postcard of four men standing in front of a building. They are dressed in outdoor clothing and they each have hats or caps on their head. Two men are wearing cartridge belts. They are each holding a rifle in an upright position by their side with the butt of the gun on the ground. Written in white on front from the negative process: W. T. Smith, M. Edwards, John Terril(Terrill), A. Ogee (Clarence H.) (Mr. Ogee was deputy sheriff at Hanna and then moved to Medicine Bow in 1909; the county was to pay 1/2 his salary, but they didn't). The Carbon County Journal of November 1, 1912 states that a posse composed of the above men were responsible for the killing of escaped convicts Noah Richardson and Baxtrum at Powder Wash, about 20 miles south of Baggs. Postcard is heavily soiled front and back. 3. A black and white unused postcard which is the same as 1956.254.0005. Shows Cousens Store Co. covered in a snowbank with a group of men standing on top of the snow hill. 4. A black and white copy print on a piece of paper that is similar to 1951.162.0349 & 1951.162.0339 which shows a train and soldiers from the time of the Spanish American War. 5. A black and white unused postcard of the train wreck of the aftermath of a train wreck showing a steam locomotive that appears to have crashed into the back of another train. The engine has been lifted up off the tracks and the engineer's cabin has been pushed back into the tender. Engine No. 266; Union Pacific. Rocky hill in background (the cut). Three men standing at right near collision point; pile of axles and wheels at center next to them. Fourth man is climbing up on the side of the engineer's cabin to look inside. Box car of train in front has N. C. & 1032 stamped on it. 6. Same as 1947.003.0113 and others, see relations. Date 1898/9, probably 1898. Lander and Saratoga stages picking up mail at PO in Rawlins after leaving Rankins barn where passengers got on. 7. Same as 1949.068.0621, Black & white print card of five? covered wagons being pulled by teams of mules. They are standing in the street in front of business buildings: The Capitol, Bon Ton, Photographs, etc. 8. Same as 1950.135.0352, Jungquist Hardware Store, Rawlins, black & white print. Image of a dirt street with three joined buildings along it. View is of a corner property with angular sign. Building at center of image has signage: "Hardware [twice on roofline]" "WAGONS & IMPLEMENTS" "STOVES & TINWARE." 9.Same as 1948.217.0187, The J. W. Hugus & Co. store and their General Merchandise building located on the corner of 3rd and Front streets. The corner building was built in 1881. Compliment of J. W. Hugus & Co. written in white on upper left from negative. 10. Same as 2015.1169.8.40, Sanborn unused postcard of a birdseye view of Rawlins looking primarily down Cedar Street from Monument Hill. Ca. 1930's. Old courthouse, Central School, St. Joseph's are seen at side background. 11. Same as 1948.037.0465, black and white copy print of J. W. Hugus & Co. store and bank on Front Street. 12. Same as 1948.040.0117, black and white post card of the State Penitentiary, Rawlins, Wyo. when newly built with wire fence around dirt grounds. 13. Same as 2001.180.0019, First National Bank, Rawlins, Wyo, Meyers Photo. Written on back: "built 1923" 14. Same as 2001.180.0005, Rawlins County Club, Meyers Photo, written on back: built in 1920's. Rans black ink stamp is on back along with Meyers Photography stamp. 15. Similar to 2001.180.0025. (History of building is listed on this first photo Rans donated). Current donation shows a uniformed brass band with their instruments and some young boys in front of Charles Johnson's Livery/Feed Store on the S.W. Corner of 5th and Buffalo. C. M. I. may be written on the bass drum. Cottage Hotel is seen in background. 16. Same as 2001.180.0016, black and white print of Wyoming Drug Store, Nyal Agency and Sill Bros. Bakery on corner of street. Printed on back: "when streets were first paved, 1928, corner 4th and Cedar. Stamped on back: Frank Meyers Photography." 17. Similar to 2015.1169.8.43. A black and white unused postcard of "Lincoln Way and business District-Rawlins, Wyo." imprinted on card from negative process. Scene is 1930's of Cedar Street and its businesses on both sides of the street. In foreground, Hotel, Newstand, Drugs. On right down the block, "Oshkosh" is written on a corner building side. Imprinted at lower right corner, "Sanborn Y-1337" from negative process. 18. A colored postcard of Laramie, WY, "showing 3rd Street, St. Matthews Abbey, Post Office, Bus Depot and other features." Ca. 1930's? 19. Same as 1949.068.0638, Summer of 1898 - Looking west on Cedar Street, shows woman and man on wooden sidewalk, businesses. 20. Same as 1948.217.00418, black and white print of H. Rasmusson Furniture and Undertaker. 21. Black and white print of the 1901 built Osborne Building with "The Rawlins National Bank" at Center of building. Various awnings are over the windows. Early day cars are parked in front of the building. Seen at top corner of building sign painted on window: "McMicken and McMicken Law Offices." Written on back of print: 1926 and stamped with "Frank J. Meyers" black ink stamp. 22. Black and white copy print of 1923 three story hospital with landscaped grounds in foreground and curving loop driveway. New growth evergreen trees. Carbon County Memorial Hospital. Today: Cathy Gardens Apartments 23. A black and white copy print of a parade street scene in Rawlins, ca. 1890, maybe later, showing Odd Fellows at 4th and Cedar on Corner, Presbyterian church in distance. People lined up on both sides of the road watching three wagons of various types pulled by horses. Smith & Hopka store may be one of the other buildings. 24. Same as 2001.180.0024. Black and white print of F. M. Johnson's Garage and old hospital. Written on back: "Old hospital and F. M. Johnson's Garage, Cedar Street, 1916." Stamped on back with Rans' black ink stamp and Frank J. Meyers stamp. 25. A very light colored black and white copy print of John J. Cullen General Merchandise building and another building on Front Street. A buckboard with man driver and two horse team are in road with a group of men, woman and young girl looking at them.
