Update - January 2010: Black & white original print attached to dark matboard which has been cut down & one copy print. Image shows a classroom of young students seated in dark wooden chairs at various large dark wooden square tables. Each table has different type "work" being done. Children are turned to face camera. A man (next to piano) & a woman are standing at back of room. Room is decorated with draped tinsel on wall side left & door. Framed images of various people: Washington & Lincoln at back right wall. Hardwood floors are see in foreground.
Written on back all in blue ink: Picture taken about 1904.

Central school building with Miss Murchison was the first Kindergarten teacher. The man is Professor Crandall

Names of the children were identified by Doris Weckerlain [sic] Waeckerlin & the 3 Rubie Rivera daughters. Mrs. Ruth Rivera Mitchell of Brush. Mrs. Frank Voss (Ada Rivera) of Los Angeles Calif & Mrs. Carmen Rivera of Walker, Minnesota when they visited the museum Jan. 10.1959.

Fair condition. Emulsion has been scraped off in many places resulting in white surface exposed. There are many scratches & blemishes throughout surface as well as scuffs. Back of mat is yellowed & lightly soiled.
Copy 1 - 3 1/2 x 5 1/8". Written on back in black ink: 1904 class. Miss Murchison, teacher.
