Description

J.M. Rumsey, early day banker at Rawlins. First associated with the First National Bank and later with the Stockgrowers Bank. His home was the stone house at the corner of First and Pine known as the Dinsmore Apartments. Update - January 2010: Black & white original studio portrait print attached to ivory colored matboard which has been cut off. There is also one copy print. Image shows a man with dark hair, long side burns & mustache which extends into the sideburns. He is wearing a dark suit jacket with high lapels, cravat type tie, & stiff high neck collar. Written in blue ink: J. M. Rumsey early day banker of Rawlins picture given museum by Miss Chrystal Thode. Written in black ink: 1st associated with the Rawlins National Bank & later with the Stockgrowers Bank. His home was the stone house at the corner of 1st and Pine Streets now known as the Dinsmore Apartments. Good condition. Has faded appearance at lower edge. Image has many tiny scratches & small scrapes when viewed with magnifier. Slightly soiled, especially edges. Black smudges at side left & top right. Backside has yellow appearance. Copy print: 5 x 7". Written on back same as above except all in blue ink. Stamped Neg. #5242. Stamped Copy provided by the Wyoming State Archives & Historical Department. Condition good. The glossy print has a wavy emulsion finish; several tiny scratches in emulsion & abraded edges.
