Description

UP Eating House and hotel, Rawlins, 1880. Update 2/2010: Black and white print attached to ivory colored matboard. Image shows a large dark colored three story building with rectangular anteroom attached to front of building at right with multiple wooden and rock buildings extending in a row down the side of the multiple railroad tracks which are in foreground and extend the length of the image. The third building from right has a very high chimney with black smoke emanating from it and plumes floating in the sky. A sign on the building side right at front reads: "Teams not allowed on platform:" Second building from right has a white sign on building right that reads: "Rawlins". (This building may be the depot). Written on back in black ink : "Property of J.E. Tierney". Written on back in red ink: "X". Fair condition. Mat is torn at corner and highly soiled with dark marks and unknown residue. There is a small red stain at top right. Edges of mat have been cut down in irregular pattern. Print has scrapes, scuffs, whirl design impaction at side left and tiny white and black spots on surface. Back of mat is highly soiled.
