Found in the old Central School building in 1959. Photo of children at their desks. Unknown.
Update March 2010: Black and white print of a school class composed of boys and girls seated at their wooden desks. There are 5 rows of desks which are attached to each other. A black board is attached to the wall and surrounds the visible room. A clock and two photographs are seen on high walls. A white #461 is printed at side left from negative. A tall woman dressed in black is standing in front of the blackboard at rear of class. The children are looking at the camera. Many have their hands clasped together on the desk top.
Written in blue ink: "Found in the old Central School house Rawlins, which was built in 1886, when it was closed for good. Brought to museum by Robert Sullens." "3-Christel Humphreys". Written in blue ink: "Around 1935."
Fair condition. Print is faded & slightly blurry. There are distortions at top of print from negative process. There are dents (including paper clip marks) at top half of image. Other indentions, specks, & blemishes are seen in emulsion throughout. Soiling & stain on back.Collection
