Typed caption attached to back with white adhesive labels: "The General Sherman - Locomotive #1. This was the Grand-daddy of all motive power in use on the Union Pacific. A woodburner, it was built by Danforth & Cooke of Paterson "New jersey, in 1864-65 & brought to Omaha by Steamboat in June 1865"
