Description

Black & white print attached to ivory colored matboard which has been cut off top print edge. Image shows the interior of a vintage store with high display shelves against each wall on sides & glass & wood counter display cases on each side in front of the wood shelves. Shelves on left hold dishes & other things. Shelves on right hold can goods, pots & pans, & dishes, etcs. Center area in the middle of the room is full of objects to sell (boxes of seeds & wagons) & a large flat display table is laden with objects. A man is standing to left of this table. A man with a large beard is standing behind the counter on right. There are objects (metal wash tubs & box of apples?) that are at base of tables as well as products under table. Written on back in black ink: The picture to the right is of the household department. Ralph Booth left; D. W. France to the right. Taken about 1910 - It became the Furguson Mercatile in 1912. Good condition. Minor scratches, scuffs & small indentions at several locations in emulsion. Back of mat has blue ink mark & tape remnant at top. Slight smudges at several areas. One black & white glossy copy print: Written on back in blue ink: Interior of Hugus & Co. store. This store was the forerunner of the Ferguson Mercantile Co. The picture to the left is of the Dry goods & the people standing l. to r. Lou Alphin, clerk, Norrie France, clerk & Carl Raife, manager. The picture to the right is of the household department. Ralph Booth, left, D. W. France to the right. Taken about 1910. It became the Ferguson Mercantile in 1912." Stamped in black: "Copy provided by the Wyoming State Archives & Historical Department."
