Scope and Content

City information of the 1940's, Rawlins. Update 2018: A brown covered scrapbook with the title on the spine "Library Album." Front cover is decorated with gold embossed border and a gold embossed "frame outline" inside of the border. The book contains newspaper clippings with dates 1939-1942. Most are stamped with date. Clippings deal primarily with County Legal Notices, articles, conditions of banks notices, school information, church services schedules, new county courthouse furnishings, school news, business openings, application for retail liquor notices, County Commissioners' news and proceedings, City Council news, prison information, society events, legal notices relating to wills and deaths, county improvements (court house, highways, construction, etc). There are a few newspapers with stamped address to County Clerk, City. Book measures 10.75" x 12 5/8." Clippings are affixed to black paper, but are affixed to ledger paper at the end of the book. 1/12/1940-Noted clippings include: Jail equipment in new courthouse approved, includes furnishings of the Sheriff's quarters. 1/12/1940-Increase in light meters, gas meters, telephones show growth to city; First National Bank officers elected; Jessie and Clarence B. Salter divorce. 1/13/1940-Anna Cardwell estate settlement notice; Library shelving, sheriff's residence furnishings and other departments listed 1/17/1940-Andrew W. Rasmussen estate settlement notice; Anna B.
