Description

A Native American doll that is 15 1/2" tall from top of head to bottom of foot. Beaded work that is black and white check front and back over shawl extends across upper bodice of dress. Dress is soft ecru leather with cut fringe along all the edges. black hair is braided with latigo ties. Bone and brass earrings. Beaded face with ochre rouge. Leather belt with brass brads for decoration, Decorative white bead work with shells at lower edge hands front and back beneath the beaded shawl. Dress is hand stitched on sides. Belt has a tiny red/white beaded fringed bag braided strap attached on left and a black and red diamond shaped fetish bag on right. Legs have high leather leggings with blue and white beadwork on lower edges. Sewn on red dyed moccasins with white beads on feet. Hair tab at center front and back neck on beadwork. Good condition, minor soiling. Update 2013: From label- "The ornate details of this doll teaches children and others about unique tribal cultures. This doll wears face paint, ritual objects (the red bag is meant to hold a protective fetish), and clothing specific to her tribe. As a piece of art, we can enjoy how beautiful and finely made it is".
