Black & white copy of the Union Pacific Hotel & Eating House in Rawlins. It is a multi level building with dormer windows, ladders on the side from ground & between floors & on the end. Railroad tracks are on photo left. More railroad buildings are seen in the distance. Written on top left corner: "5/17 W. O. 4728 Brick, veneer & stucco"
Written on back in blue ink: "3-g Union Pacific Hotel & eating house after it was rebuilt. Larry Hays ran this hotel for many years. His son, Jim Hays, was born in this hotel in 1877" "Hotel & eating house Rawlins" Written in green ink: "U P Hotel & eating house after it was rebuilt. Mr. William Daley who was the U P Bridge & building contractor for the Railroad when it first was built through Rawlins. Later he became one of the first sheep men in Carbon Co. His grandson Edward Daley still is in Rawlins & is running the same outfit now in 1952. The depot is just east of this building. Larry Hays ran this hotel for many years. His son Jim Hays who was born in 1877 in this U P Hotel, while his father was the manager. July 1952 Larry Hays has a son Jim Hays & a daughter Mrs. Wallace who are still living in Rawlins.
