Sepia print. Snapshot. Mounted on tan matboard. Image of ten boys - nine in uniform; one in knickers - in front of a stone wall. Uniforms have "Rawlins Jr" across the front of the shirt; pants are short - end just below the knee - and appear to be quilted. Each player has on a cap, dark stockings & lace-up boots. One boy is seated on ground in front with mit mask & bat behind him; he is holding his cap on his head; he is wearing dark colored knickers. Written on emulsion in blue ink are numbers 1-10; [in lower left] "E.H. Hill". Written on back in blue ink: "1-be" "Early [crossed out] Baseball team in Rawlins - about 1904 "1-Frank Gunning 2-Blyde Hill 3-Jack Sheahans 4-Angus Murray 5-John Lackey 6-Earl Reader 7-Leo Bilden 8 - DeWitt Smith 9-John Gunning 10 - Arthur Perry" Written on back: [red pencil] "Copied by State" [black ink] "and mounted" [pencil] "Page 75, pix 3 1 1/2 x 3 1/2" [light blue ink] "3" Other writing on back cut off. Mounted on acidic matboard. Cut down from original size - edges rough & uneven; emulsion missing along edges. Back soiled. Ink on emulsion; surface soiled & scratched. Update March 2011: One black & white copy print.
