Description

A 9" x 11" green velvet (front cover and spine) photo album with gold clasp closure (parts are missing) at side right. The back cover is a yellow raised celluloid with gold metal trim around the edges. An inlaid image of a baby with wings holding a grapevine above its head is at center of cover surrounded by a decorative red and green curtained frame. Decorative black and gold scroll work surrounds the "frame." The album contains photographs of the Betty Wahlberg and Gust Engstrom family and friends. Photo album pages are divided into three and two window slots for individual photographs to be placed behind. All photos are from 1903 and before. Page 1 contains two black and white photos of unknown babies. Page 2-shows husband of "Aunt Matilda," center photo is of two young women, "Aunt Matilda" is written on it ("Grandpa Engstrom's sister," from an additional note). At right "Dad's sister, Matilda, and husband." Page 3-two unknown boys and a girl Page 4- Two unknown women and "Uncle Louis"-note with page reads, "one of Grandpa Engstrom's brothers-Louis." Page 5-Photos of a young woman, three children, and two women-all unknown Page 6-Page changes to two framed pockets for photos. One frame contains young man and woman; a young man in suit and vest with "Dad" written on the front. (Photo taken by A. A. Brown which means it was taken in 1903 or before). Page 7- A triangle photo of a pretty young woman taken by A. A. Brown, and a young man. Written on his photo: "Dad's brother, Uncle John." Page 8-Cabinet cards of a young woman and one of two men. Their photo was taken by A. A. Brown. Page 9-Cabinet card of John Engstrom and his dad, Gust Engstrom. Written on the photo: "Unc. John and Dad." Cabinet card of Gust Engstrom and John with Emil N. in the middle. Written in ink on the image "Dad, Emil N., U. John." Page 10-An A. A. Brown cabinet card of three men. Man in center is identified as John Peterson; Cabinet card of "Eric Larson" (which is written on image). Page 11-Cabinet card of a toddler and a baby identified on a sheet of paper as Uncle Rags and Mom. Rags refers to Rags Engstrom. Unclear who mom is at this time; Cabinet card of unknown baby. Page 12-Cabinet card of unnamed woman (written on the back of this photo "R. E."; cabinet card of man identified as John Stranberg, written on note, "Grandpa Sjolin's sister married this man, so this is on the Sjolin side-my dad's." Page 13-Triangle photo of a young woman; cabinet card of a baby with "Ada Anderson" written on the photograph. Page 14-Cabinet card of a young man and woman; cabinet card of a young man.
