Description

An 8.5" x 14.5," (print itself), ornately framed gold metal filigree at top and sides. The colored studio portrait is of Charles Jackson. Frame has a curved glass (domed shape) cover over the photograph. There is a maroon accent strip surrounding frame between the gold metal surrounding the image and the outside gold strip. Charles is wearing the same uniform as in image 2021.1265.1.1. and taken about the same time. Uniform has elaborate gold braid draped at side left and gold epaulets on the shoulders. A typed note on back reads: "Major Charles Jackson Marion V. Bartholomew's adopted father ca. 1905 Wyoming governor was B. B. Brooks C. Jackson was part of the body guard that went everywhere the gov. went. Part of the gov's staff. M.V.B. tells of when they went to the world fair in Seattle (about the time of this picture) the entire family went and had their own private train car. She was seven)." A tarnished embossed plaque 2.25" x 3.25" is at back top center reads: "Know ye that those presents certify that this is a heritage photograph of Capt. Charles Jackson made from a photograph taken in the year ____ and faithfully portrayed by the artist in a manner and quality befitting a work to be passed on to future generations.......Done at the studios of Fine Arts Association, ....Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, signed E. H. Boese, Art Director." Another smaller plaque at back edge gives patent number for glass frame and price of $21.90. It has a fold out base at lower edge for standing.
