Description

12 colored photographic prints of the 1913 Lincoln Highway, markers, ghost town of Dana, WY, an old Ford Garage in Colorado and various individuals. All prints measure 4" x 6." a. Image of an abandoned wooden structure with three women standing in front of it to side right. A wide expanse of dried grassy field and foreground are seen. A dried tree trunk is lying on its side at left of entryway to building. Written on the back, "Aubrey (Hanna Museum employee), Sunshine Solaas, and my wife Kay Rabel in ghost town of Dana, WY." b. Scene of a wide expanse of fields of grass and dirt with a horizon of wind turbines on the distant hills. A dirt road divides the fields in the middle and heads up a small incline. Blue skies with a few clouds are above the horizon. Written on back of photo: "Original LH (Lincoln Highway) 1913 on westside of Hwy 30 south of Hanna." c. Image of a dirt road with tire tracks are seen in foreground with the road curving to the left in the distance. Dormant grass and vegetation are at side right and left of the road into the horizon. Written on the back, " Original LH 1913 looking North from gas station site on original LH 1913 south of Hanna." d. Photo of a gravelled road with sagebrush and grass on either side leading off into the far distance. Blue skies and clouds are seen in the sky. Written on the back,"LH going west 1913 from ghost town of Dana, WY." e. Image of a Lincoln Highway marker with the cement base and square top with the Lincoln logo and medallion intact in a green grassy lawn in front of a brown bricked house. Written on the back: "LHM at private residence in Encampment, WY." f. Print of an older man and woman standing together on a wooden porch attached to a beige wooden house. A birdcage is at side left. Written on back, " Gene Rabel and Nancy Anderson in Encampment, WY. g. A snapshot of an older man and woman at side left, a Wamsutter to Rock Springs Lincoln Highway sign (rusted and shot at) on the wall, a cement Lincoln Highway post with logo and medallion of Lincoln intact, a triple vertical frame of three Lincoln Highway markers/post photographs and a younger man. They are standing in a room while dressed warmly. Written on the back, "Nancy Anderson whose husband (Victor) had a gas station on old Hwy 30 before new Hwy 30 was built. Nancy's husband's father had the gas station on the original 1913 LH south of Hanna. Gene and Tim (curator at Encampment, WY museum) with original LHM." h. A copy of the CCM photo 1948.217.0405 of the cement marker that reads, "Willys-Overland section of the Lincoln Highway, length 12 miles." i. A building with a cinder block wall and a concrete floor has photographs, signs, highway markers and a vintage car displayed. At lower left is the top 1/2 of a Lincoln Highway marker with the "L" logo and the medallion of Lincoln intact. Written on back,"LHM head only at old Ford Garage. The whole garage is full of memorabilia." j. An older man is sitting at a desk with a younger man and woman standing behind him. Framed photos are on the wall to the left and right with a small barbershop post of red, white and blue circular stripes hanging beneath the photos. Written on the back,"Gene, Kay, and Lee owner of old Ford Garage in Julesburg, CO." k. A photo of two older men standing next to a cinder block wall with a LH sign and the top 1/2 of a Lincoln Highway Marker on the floor between them. Written on the back, "Gene and Lee and LHM head only at Lee's old Ford Garage with much memorabilia." l. An image of a young girl, a woman, and a man standing in a barren field with light vegetation. A concrete base is between the woman and the man. Written on the back, "Aubrey, Sunshine, curator of museum in Hanna, and Gene along side concrete base for the Willy's-Overland Marker on west side of ghost town of Dana on the east side of Hwy 30 south of Hanna. (note: this base is the base of "h." with the embossed metal sign removed and bare concrete showing with indents in concrete where sign was affixed). m. A printed list of Lincoln Highway post markers and their locations in Wyoming & Colorado. Included on the list are two markers in Encampment which have been moved off of the Lincoln Highway as were those in Rawlins and other places. There is a notation on page 2, re: "Jim Davis is director for Lincoln Highway in WY, he has lists with photos of all locations in WY and CO that have been recorded."
