Granite Quarry with two wagons, Ed Snow and John Hadaman.
Update - June 2010: Black & white print. Panorama. Snapshot mounted on black matboard. Image of two wagons hauling large blocks of stone. Wagons are stopped in front of rolling hills. First wagon is being drawn by six horses - two white & four dark; driver is riding the left side rear horse & guiding the team from there. Second wagon drawn by four dark horses; driver seated on front edge of the stone block.
Written in black ink directly on emulsion on first stone block: "11840#"
Written in black ink directly on emulsion in upper left corner: "No. 1".
Considerable writing on back in blue ink, black ink & pencil; some difficult to read: "[cut off] n by Mrs. Lou Roach Rawlins, Wyo - her husband, was Warden of State Penit[cut off] for man [cut off]" "the corner stone of the Penitentiary" "Rawlins, Wyo? "Ed Snow - (front wagon)" "John Hadaman (2nd wagon) old scout" "Copied - mounted" "This is on the road coming from the old stone quarry [unreadable]"
Mounted on acidic matboard. Cut down from original size - edges rough & uneven & writing cut off. Edges of photo tattered & torn; chunks missing from top, left side & bottom edges; tears on right & left sides. Badly faded, soiled & scratched.Collection
