6 overlook images of Rawlins. All were most likely taken from Monument Hill. Most likely taken by Frank Meyers. a-b) Images taken from the north side of the railroad tracks looking to the east, approximately in line with Cedar Street. Photos probably taken circa 1920 (penitentiary has walls but no water tower). Courthouse, Central School and St. Joseph's Catholic Church are distinctly visible. The righthand edge of "a" overlaps slightly with the lefthand edge of "b". Both marked "237" in bottom left corner in black marker, approximately 8"Wx10"H. c-d) Images taken from the south side of the railroad tracks looking to the east. Multiple trains are on the tracks across the middle of image. Photos probably taken circa 1940s. State penitentiary, courthouse, Central School, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and post office (now City Hall) are distinctly visible. Photos are nearly identical, but "c" is marked #"214" and "d" is marked "312", both in bottom left corner in black marker. A series of small cottages, possibly a motel/hotel, are visible at lower left.
