Update 2008: Black and white copy print. Original photo not found as of 3-17-2008. Snapshot. Image of two young girls riding cows on a grassy plain. Low hills and creek in background. One girl is leading a young deer on a rope. Both girls are wearing dark dresses. Girl on left is riding side saddle and wears a baret. Girl on right is riding astride. Her dress has row of buttons on left and right side of bodice and she is wearing a knit cap.
Written on back in black ink: "Edna (Bennett) Campbell and Nellie (Bennett) Grieve."
Original image faded or light damaged at center bottom. Slight corner damage.

Typed on white paper attached to back: "Edna Bennett Campbell & Nellie Bennett Grieve. This picture was taken on Spring Creek about 1889, near Saratoga, Wyoming, some three miles south of town. Mr. Bennett ran a ferry boat, near fort Steele on the Platte. These calves were purchased from Tureson, and the girls rode them to school. They did their various chores on them & also brought the mail. Like two queens dressed in their very best, with calves to ride upon. They posed for this picture like the ladies they were. Leading a little fawn."
Good condition. Rainbow emulsion, creasing, scratched, grooves, top cut off, irregular borders.
