Description

Sepia print on cream mat. Image of a large, two story, ornate home. Roof is steep with a couple of dormer windows. A section in center extends at a different angle & has a door leading to a balcony on left side. A decorative rail is around the balcony. Below balcony is a porch with column posts. A lower section on extension has a bay window. On lower level, decorative trim is around doors & window.s A small open porch is on photo right side of bay window. Small trees are next to the house & a larger one in front on photo right. Lawn is surrounding the house along with bushes. Above bay window on the second level is a three pane window with decorative trim under eave of roof. Written on back in green ink: "Picture taken about 1900 This home was one of the first fine homes built on the North side of the Railroad tracks: In blue ink: "Blake home on Cedar Street - Probably built in the 1880's & this picture was taken in 1900. This home was first fine home built on the north side of the Railroad tracks. It was also the 1st home that had trees around it." "Copied by State" In black written on front bottom border: "E. H. Hill" Good condition. Top center paper missing, accretion, liquid spots, mat cut down, faded spot on left, adhesive & black paper on back from previous mounting.
