Mary Inness Buchanan, mother of John Niland.
Update 1/2008: A black and white print of Mary Inness Buchanan (Mother of John Niland) in a long checked dress with long puffy sleeves and cuffs, sitting on a dark wooden chair, (only one chair leg and cross supports are showing) outside in a grassy area with bushes showing behind her. It appears the camera caught her in the midst of sitting in the chair as her right arm is slightly raised, her left arm is resting on chair and her upper torso is slightly bent over. Subject has white hair with a center part and pulled back in an updo. A white picket fence is behind her on the left and a board fence is to her right. A white frame house shows in the distance.
The print is in good condition even though it has several surface blemishes consisting of fingerprints, scratches in emulsion, light soiling (photo top right) and wear on photograph edges with worn emulsion.
There are five remnants of residue and black paper remains where photo was removed from a primary surface. Slight dimpling on photo front surface as a result of remains on photo back.
Written on back of photo on a stuck on white label 1 1/2" x 3" in black ink: "Mary Innes Buchanan (Mother of John Niland).
Printed on left side top edge: "Postcard". Center:"Correspondence". Right top edge:"Place Stamp Here." Center: "Address".Collection
