Play scene, Ian and Gladys Buchanan, 1914.
Update 1/2008: A black and white print of a group of older boys and girls standing on a stage dressed in a mixture of costumes: Quakers?, Indians and a Minister. There are four boys sitting and two boys reclining in the front row of the group. They are dressed in chain mall type shirts, pants made of a shiny fabric, and pith helmets. Five of these boys are holding long barreled rifles at various angles. At extreme left on second row is a tall boy dressed in fringed buckskin and wearing a feathered headdress. In the far right of this second row is another tall boy dressed in dark clothing with a 3/4 velvet? jacket with brocade facings and cuffs also with a bit white collar and white cuff. The stage has four tiers of ceiling and wall hangings framing the four rows of young people. The hangings seem to be printed fabric or sheaths of leaves. The far background scene is of trees in various sizes and sky. Below the stage are two radiators on each side of an ornately carved piano of its upper console. To the right is a music stand with two separate sheets of music: Album: Waltz and Concert Album. A pole with dark fabric hangs in front of the lower stage area in front of the piano and music stand.
The photo is in good condition. It has wrinkling of surface top and bottom. There is wear and abrasion on all edges and corners as well as slight tear on left side edge. Soiling shows on backside of photo at various locations. There are cracks in emulsion at bottom edges and top from wrinkling. There is an adhesive residue border on all backside edges.
