Photo outside Elks Club and people in autos unknown and one copy.
Update 2008: Black and white print attached to medium gray matboard of a large two story sandstone building with four large Grecian columns on the front wide porch supporting a second stroy open short white railing fenced terrace porch which overhangs the lower level porch and entryway. On building front at apex of roof beneath the top eaves is a large circular clock with wheat sheaths surrounding bottom and upper sides of outer edges of clock. Hands show 11:00 o'clock. to left of clock are large letters affixed to building: B.P.O.E. and to right of clock are letters and numbers: No. 609. There are two windows seen on building front. One on left and right of wide entry door. There are hansoms above these tall windows and the door. Ornate support brackets are positioned underneath eaves of roof edges sides and front and upper secondary eaves over second story terrace roof. In front of the building on the dirt street are three dark colored vintage open roofed automobiles all with light colored trees and side running boards. left to right: Car one has two men with hats in front seat and a single man in backseat. Car two has two men wearing hats and suits in front seat who are smoking cigars and a man wearing a hat with a cigar? in his mouth and his left arm around the back of the child seated next to him. The third car has two men in front seat, both wearing suits and hats. A man wearing a bowler type hat, cigar in his mouth seated next to a hatted child who is scrunched down in the seat. To rear of this last vehicle is a side street with the Ferris Hotel Bar sign seen in building window in background. There is a small house to left of BPOE. building that is obstructed by trees. Two little boys are standing outside picket fence watching the cars. Engraved stamp on bottom right corner "The Ferris Studio, Rawlins, Wyo."
Condition good. Matboard has wear on all edges with resulting bent corners and torn mat with second white layer showing, slight soiling and marks on all edges. There are a spray of tiny black dots on photo top left and other minor blemishes of faint dark lines on top half section of print.
There is a 3 1/2 x 4 3/4" reprint copy, good condition, with Elks Club page 13-18 written on back in black ink. Has negative lines showing on left and right side.
Update February 2011: View 2. Black & white copy print. Image is same scene but a different angle. The men & children are posed slightly different & photo does not extend beyond the Elks to the left.
Good condition. Slight scratching & creasing. Size 8 x 9 7/8"Collection
